Back in the high school days, I spoke with Daniel Gurr only a few times - never got to know him very well. When the news came that he had been killed by small arms fire in Afghanistan, it still came as quite a shock, and I pray his family and friends will pull through together. It's sad that it takes events like this to cause me to remember what is really important and how blessed I really am. I have an incredible family and great friends. Recently I have been missing the days when my family all lived together at home in Vernal (minus Alicia, of course). I didn't appreciate them at that point, but I can look at each person now and recognize things that I admire in each.
Bobbi - Greatest mom in the history of the world. Extremely loving and expected a lot out of her kids without being overbearing.
Scott - Greatest dad in the history of the world. Never thinks about himself and is constantly striving to be better. Anyone that knows him would agree.
Bryce - Possibly could be the next Albert Einstein. Extremely intelligent and never stops learning. Great sense of humor.
Brock - Also very intelligent. It may not show in some of his actions, but that's what makes him fun. He does what he wants.
Alicia - Puts up with Bryce. What's not to respect about that? (Sorry Alicia, I don't have 20+ years of experience with you to pull from...)
My life has been a piece of cake. I have nothing to complain about. It shouldn't take the death of a Marine to make me remember this. R.I.P. Sgt. Daniel Gurr.
